I have been very open with my Instagram community with my “diet” struggles. When I read these words I could truly relate:
“Fact is, most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a miserable, unsustainable experience.” (Emphasis is mine)
Prior to my chronic depression and anxiety diagnosis, I had a physician that was adamant my health issues were all related to my weight. He put me on a very restrictive diet that gave temporary YAY moments but overall was difficult to maintain. Also, once my body adjusted to the diet, all of my symptoms returned in full force.
So why was I open to Always Eat After 7 PM? First, it fit my eating style. I am not a big breakfast eater. I already started many of my mornings with either tea or an apple cider vinegar mixture and would snack throughout the day. Also, dinner is typically my largest meal. This Southern Diva enjoys a hearty dinner. Finally, I had been researching intermittent fasting and after reading this book, I realized it was much easier to implement than I had thought.
An Interview with Best-Selling Author Joel Marion
Joel Marion, author of Always Eat After 7 PM, is a fitness expert and nutritionist who is debunking the myths underlying traditional dieting and offers a simple, highly effective weight loss program.
What inspired you to write this book, Joel?
After authoring 6 best-selling books it was glaringly obvious there were 2 huge misconceptions about dieting that needed to be exposed. The first is that you can’t eat late at night or before bed, which science now shows is NOT true. And second, you can’t eat large portions that satisfy your natural instinct. This book solves both these problems by providing an evidence-based, enjoyable approach to dieting that can be used by any person to achieve their weight loss goals quickly.
Tell me, what was the most surprising discovery when you were researching scientific data for the diet?
That almost everything my college education and certifications taught me was NOT grounded in published scientific research.
Wow! That’s eye-opening! So honestly, how difficult is the Always Eat After 7 PM plan to follow?
It’s not. And that’s exactly why I wrote the book. While any diet is never truly easy, it can be more enjoyable and much easier to adhere to when you understand how Always Eat After 7 PM works because it caters to the natural instincts of our body.
