Here are a few simple tips to help you and your family be at your healthiest while traveling:

Drink plenty of water

This is especially important if you are flying to your vacation destination. Traveling on an airplane has a dehydrating effect if you do not drink enough. It is easy to compound this by drinking lots of sodas or alcoholic drinks. Make sure to remain well-hydrated by drinking as much water as you can each day, including travel days. You will feel much better as a result!

Look for healthy snacks and meals

If you desire to maintain your healthy eating habits while on vacation this summer, look for restaurants that offer foods that are fresh and full of healthy ingredients. For your best bet, try looking up local restaurants that use fresh ingredients from local farms or other suppliers. Not only will you be supporting the local economy, but you will also be filling up on foods that are good for you and provide lots of energy.

Find ways to get moving

Find ways to move while on vacation. It's easy to want to eat, sleep and eat more, but moving more will help you feel better during and after your vacation time.

It is easy on vacation to just alternate between two things: eating and sleeping. This does sound great, but after several days of this, your body will actually begin to feel worse if you do not get any exercise. Wherever you are for your vacation, take a hike, ride a bike, climb a monument, or simply stroll around town after dinner each evening. You will sleep more soundly, and you will get rid of the guilty feeling that you did not exercise at all during your vacation.

Be careful in the sun

Get out and enjoy the view! But remember to be careful in the sun and protect your skin and eyes.

There is nothing like a painful sunburn to take the fun right out of a summer vacation. Avoid getting badly sunburned by using sunscreen daily for yourself and your family members. This is crucial if you are at the beach for your vacation, but it is an important tip to remember no matter where you are vacationing. Your skin will thank you!

Let go of stress

Let go of stress! Vacation is your time to relax and rejuvenate.

It is easy to leave surroundings behind when you go on a vacation, but it is much harder to ditch the everyday stresses and worries of life. Try to let go of things that you cannot control and allow your mind to rest. The problems and challenges will still be there when you get back, but you will be better equipped to deal with them if you give yourself a chance to relax and be refreshed.

Following these suggestions may seem simple, but they are easy ways to ensure you have a healthy summer vacation. Try these tips and enjoy your best vacation yet!
